                                        Class of 1960

                                      Ladies Luncheon

                                      January 29, 2016

Sixteen classmates attended our 36th “Class of ‘60 Ladies Luncheon”, at Salisburys Deli & Grill in Lodi.

Those in attendance were:  Wanda Ballew, Patti Bender, Sharon Christopherson, Dianne Cooper, Gayle Deutscher, Janie Keir, Marlene Miller, Carla Norris, Marilyn Ostermann, Margaret Phipps, Annette Reiswig, Marsha Sanger, Mavis Seibel, Sharon Tanaka, Sharon Tutt, and Kathy Welsh.

Emails of regret, but tell everyone hello, came from: Judy Bouska, Carolyn DeVinny, Starla Filler, Cherie Flower, Claire Fujita, Dona Holmes, Marlene Hunter, Karen Krause, Nilita Lerza, Sandy Lind, Carolyn Marshall, Georgia Maul, Shirley Savig, Maxine Schaffer, Donna Schumacher, Karen Sterling, Lynette Walther, Janet and Janice Woehl.

No “Show ‘n Tell” session was held, as classmates had to leave early and I basically couldn’t get “the class” to settle down. EVERYONE looked terrific and obviously had a great time chatting with each other.

Carla Norris was celebrating her birthday with us and Sharon Christopherson’s birthday was the next day. Keep having those wonderful birthdays, but also make sure that you celebrate EACH day.

Nilita Lerza sent me a new phone number to contact her if you’re in the North Tahoe area, so let me know if you’d like to have it to give her a call and make her day.

Dona Holmes had knee surgery last July, and resulted in a staph infection and a big blip in the road, but will hopefully be put back together real soon.

Judy Bouska sent me a great reminder to: KEEP YOUR SUNNY SIDE UP!

There’s a reason why it took me so long to get my act together and send this out, as I just now received an e-mail from Lanell Peden telling me that her computer has been down, and we ALL know what that’s like. Catch you next time around.

Kathy & Mavis reported that two of our classmates have passed since our last gathering: Bonnie Galluzzi on Oct. 2, 2015, and Kay Baker Rogers on Nov. 9, 2015

I did go online (lodinews.com) and found this article in the Lodi Sentinel about Bonnie Galluzzi which I will paste here:

Bonnie M. Galluzzi

1942 - 2015 Obituary Condolences

Bonnie M. Galluzzi died on Oct. 2nd of sepsis and bowel necrosis.

She was born to Genevieve and Enrico Galluzzi on Sept. 15, 1942 in Stockton, Calif..

She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene and had an apostolate prior to becoming a hermitess in 1992. She was active in St. Joseph's Healing Ministry, served as Eucharistic Minister, was Coordinator for visitations to the home-bound., was on the Parish Council; was Vice President of the Legion of Mary, Our Lady of Hope Praesidium; and also did visitations to the sick and homebound. She was a Lector, a spiritual member of the Catholic Daughters; and was active in Morality in the Media, Birthright, St. Thomas Auxiliary, Hawthorne Altar Society, Hawthorne 'Horse-man's Assn., Sierra Club, Clements Buckaroos, and St. Vincent de Paul.

She was active in Pro-Life Movement work, writing literally hundreds of letters to legislators, government officials, and Presidents. She also did much Anti-Pornography work.

Bonnie was an avid fisherwoman, hunter, and sharpshooter. Frequent trips out of state with her horse and trailer were pretty usual.  She has traveled all of the U.S. and Canada, toured most of Europe and quite a few out of the way places like Egypt, Kenya, and Tanzania. She has gone hot-air ballooning over the Masai Mara in Africa and has snorkeled in the warm waters of Cancun, and Belize in the Yucatan. She very much enjoyed visiting Marian Shrines, especially in Italy, Portugal, Yugoslavia, Spain, France, and Bosnia. Her most favorite place was in Israel.

She spent her last years as a Hermitess, living a life of prayer and solitude. She leaves one sister, two sons, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on January 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 Indiana St., Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Burial will be at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.

PS:   If you’d like to be deleted from this list of LUHS Class of ‘60 e-dresses, just let me know and it will happen; I won’t send out further updates to you. I’ve included everyone’s e-dress, not just the ladies who attended this event.

NOTE from Judy A. Remmick-Hubert:  I was unable to attend this luncheon because I had injured my shoulder and couldn't drive.
